Backstory
Schminken Studio was founded in 2001 with the collaboration of make-up effects artists and Felix Fox. Together they have brought to life some of the most memorable creations in entertainment.

Lindala has enjoyed designing and creating effects for film and television for more than 14 years. His work on “The X-Files” (first five seasons) saw him twice nominated for Emmy Awards. Fox comes from an art background and into effects in 1997. The two have shared additional Emmy Nominations for the Outstanding Make-up for “Voyage of the Unicorn”.

Their body of work spans over 250 productions (thousands of builds).

Together they have developed a vision of excellence for special make-up effects design and application.

Facility
The Schminken Studio is a state of the art facility centrally located in the heart of the Vancouver film community.

Boasting 4,000 square feet of creative space, it was designed and constructed specifically to support the variety of disciplines we combine to bring our creations to life.

Team
To achieve the highest caliber of work we bring together the finest make-up artists, hair specialists, painters, illustrators, mechanical engineers, fabricators, sculptors, mold makers and production personnel.

Often we have worked in two-way consultation with our suppliers to develop new materials and ways to use them.

Design
All our projects begin with a conversation. Some productions come to us with designs, while more often we play an integral part in the conception of these creations. Through research, imagination and experience we move from idea to realization in a swift and efficient manner.

Our illustrators are gifted designers adept at amalgamating classic and modern rendering techniques to best pre-visualize any concept well before construction begins.

Many projects require us to generate storyboards, blueprints, prototypes, video-tests and sculptural maquettes.

At every stage we are committed to open communication and the highest quality of results.

Realization
We work closely with production through each phase of construction. While actors are life-cast and sculptures are approved and molded we are developing the many fine details that have come to be our signature of excellence.

We offer custom detailing in every aspect including teeth, eyes, hair / fur, color scheme, etc.

Performance
When the Director calls “Action!” our work is given an opportunity to shine. Our experience – from the rigorous demands of series to the expectations of features – has enabled us to face each new challenge with the confidence earned from literally thousands of hours on set. With the best application experts and puppeteers in the business we guarantee optimum performance and production value on every take.
